Awards Committee

The Awards Committee oversees and executes individual and unit awards sponsored by NGAI, NGAUS and EANGAUS.

Key Functions:

  • Periodic Review of Awards Regulations and Guidance.
  • Annual review/recommendation of Educational Grant applicants.
  • Make recommendations to Board of Directors.
  • Maintain stock of Individual and Unit Awards as appropriate.
  • Conduct Appearance Interviews of Candidates for Individual Awards Selections.
  • Coordinate with TAG on certain awards.
  • Coordinate with EANGUS/NGAUS on Award Recipients (Individual and Unit)
  • Submit Report at NGAI Annual Conference.

2012 Awards Committee, Timeline and Requirements

Business Operations/Insurance Committee
The Business Operations Committee works closely with the Executive Director and is responsible for operational oversight to include budget, auditing the financial records, and best business practices for NGAI to assure fiscal activities are in keeping with by-laws, objectives, mission, board direction and budget.

The Committee also provides oversight to the NGAI Insurance Program for Indiana Guardsmen. It conducts periodic record reviews, establishes and monitors goals and objectives and interfaces with the commercial insurance carrier, American Equity Life Insurance Company.

Key Functions:

  • Development of the NGAI annual budget.
  • Annual Audit of Treasurer’s records.
  • Annual Audit of Insurance Program fiscal records.
  • Make recommendations to Treasurer, Insurance Administrator and Board of Directors.
  • Submit Audit report to Annual General Conference.
  • Works closely with the NGAI insurance administrator.
  • Reviews the insurance commission’s policy on an annual basis.

Constitution and Bylaws Committee

The Constitution and Bylaws Committee assures that all official regulating instruments of the association are current and reflect the needs and desires of the general membership in meeting goals and objectives.

Key Functions:

  • Periodic Review of Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws and related articles.
  • Drafting and Presentation of Changes to the above for adoption.
  • Make recommendations to Board of Directors.
  • Submit Report at NGAI Annual Conference.

Corporate Partnership Committee
The Corporate Partnership Committee works closely with the Executive Director in developing relationships with Indiana and national corporations to support the mission of NGAI.

Key Functions:

  • Develops the annual Corporate Partnership Plan for submission to the BOD.
  • Coordinates with the Resolutions Committee on corporate resolution input.
  • Assures Corporate Partners receive benefits designated per Partnership Plan.
  • Work closely with Events Committee for appropriate corporate representation.

Educational Grant Committee
The Educational Grant Committee receives, reviews and verifies applicant qualification. Five military members and five dependents are selected to receive a $1000.00 scholarship each. Note: If more scholarship money is available, the scholarship amount may increase. The recipients are announced at the annual conference and the scholarships are presented at the annual car show.

Events and Long Range Planning Committee

The Events and Long Range Planning Committee provides oversight to the multitude of events for NGAI. Sub Committees will be formed as appropriate for each assigned event.

The Events and Long Range Planning Committee annually reviews, drafts and finalizes the NGAI Long Range Plan which provides guidance on a short, mid and long term basis that maintains the ever-changing focus of the Association.

  • Perform an annual review and update of the NGAI Long Range Plan.
  • Develop a SOP and annual calendar.
  • Submit draft plan to NGAI Board of Directors for approval and adoption.
  • Coordinate with other Committees in development of revised plan.
  • Publish revised Long Range Plan for all members.
  • Submit Report at NGAI Annual Conference.

Legislative Committee

The Legislative Committee drafts and executes an annual legislative plan to accomplish goals and legislative and congressional objectives established by the Board of Directors.

Key Functions:

  • Establish an annual Legislative Action Program for NGAI subject to Board approval.
  • Use NGAUS Legislative Action Plan for the development of NGAI plan.
  • Coordinate with TAG to provide support on his objectives.
  • Monitor Congressional and Legislative actions at State and National level.
  • Coordinate Legislative Visits, Receptions, Office Visits and other interface actions.
  • Provide educational material, briefings and other material to legislative staff members.
  • Coordinate testimony by knowledgeable members for legislative initiatives.
  • Coordinate with Resolutions Committee in accomplishing NGAI goals and objectives.
  • Submit Report at NGAI Annual Conference.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee is made up of representatives from each Indiana Army and Air National Guard unit with the intent of educating and soliciting renewals of annual memberships in NGAI, NGAUS, and EANGUS to provide the most powerful voice possible in accomplishment of goals and objectives. Sub Committees will include both Army and Air Officer, Enlisted, and CWO as appropriate.

  • Members serve individual units as Points of Contact for annual Membership Drive.
  • Coordinate with Executive Director of NGAI on unit membership initiatives and status.
  • Coordinate with Executive Director of NGAI on maintenance of unit rosters.
  • Establish membership goals for NGAI, NGAUS and EANGUS each year.
  • Submit Report at NGAI Annual Conference.


Nominations/Elections Committee

The Nominations Committee monitors cyclic and unplanned vacancies on the Board of Directors, solicits nominees and drafts a slate of nominees to be presented at the NGAI Annual Conference for election.

Key Functions:

  • Keep abreast of the terms of office of the members on the Board of Directors.
  • Coordinate with Executive Director of NGAI on cyclic anticipated vacancies on the Board.
  • Publish and Distribute vacancy list for Board of Directors for solicitation of Nominees.
  • Establish a slate of nominees to be considered by membership.
  • Submit Slate to membership body at NGAI Annual Conference for election.
  • Monitor election process and report election results to Annual Conference.

Public Relations/Publications Committee

The Public Relations Committee does press releases and other public awareness initiatives which further the public visibility of Indiana Army and Air National Guard units and individuals who deserve recognition for their support of NGAI goals and objectives. This committee will also publish the annual conference program booklet for the NGAI conference and publishes a quarterly newsletter.

Key Functions:

  • Stay abreast of issues and activities of individuals and units in Indiana Army and Air National Guard.
  • Write and distribute Press Releases to bring public attention to Indiana National Guard accomplishments.
  • Publishes the Quarterly Newsletter.
  • Coordinates publishing of Annual Conference Programs for NGAI.
  • Responsible for both internal and external communications to include www.ngai.net

Resolutions Committee

The Resolutions Committee receives, reviews and makes recommendations to the Annual General Conference on all resolutions from EANGUS/NGAUS, Defense Contractors and the NGAI membership. They compile the adopted resolutions for submission to EANGUS/NGAUS to be considered by the General Conferences. A member of the committee representing both Army and Air interests attends the EANGUS/NGAUS Resolutions Committee meetings to represent Indiana.

Key Functions:

  • Reviews Resolutions submitted by EANGUS/NGAUS for consideration and makes recommendations to NGAI General Assembly.
  • Reviews Resolutions submitted by Defense Contractors for consideration and makes recommendation to NGAI General Assembly.
  • Compiles all supported resolutions for submission to EANGUS/NGAUS to be refined for consideration at NGAUS Annual General Conference.
  • Selects an Army and Air Guard member to represent Indiana at EANGUS/NGAUS Annual General Conference.
  • Reviews Resolutions submitted by NGAI Members for consideration and conduct vote at NGAI General Assembly.

Retiree Committee

The Retiree Committee assures that past Guardsmen are kept abreast of events and issues and solicits their support in accomplishment of NGAI goals and objectives.

  • Keep Retirees advised of changes affecting them.
  • Assist the Adjutant General in conduct of State of the Guard Briefings.

  • Make arrangements and program for Retiree’s Luncheon at Annual Conference.
  • Submit Report at NGAI Annual Conference.
